Just a month after the Skyblivion mod, a fan-made reimagining of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, garnered significant attention (leading its developers to comment on the release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered), the team behind another similar project is now stepping into the spotlight.
A new 20-minute gameplay video of Skywind, an ambitious unofficial remake of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind built using The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s engine, has been released online. The majority of the video showcases the completion of the quest “Rescue Joncis Dalomax.” Towards the end, the developers provide an update on the project’s progress, outlining their achievements in terms of numbers and completed tasks.
The development team has finalized the core 2D art assets and significantly enhanced visual effects, particularly for weather, water, and lighting. The entire game script is written, with only additional flavor text remaining. Interior level design is reported to be 60% complete. Creature animations are still undergoing refinement. The spell creation and character creation interfaces are nearing completion.
A release date remains unannounced, and the team is still seeking volunteers to assist with various tasks, such as mixing and editing voiceover work. Production of Skywind began in 2012, marking over a decade of dedicated fan effort.
