Elon Musk Announces XChat, a Messenger with “Bitcoin-Style Encryption”

Elon Musk, the owner of the social network X, announced the launch of a messenger called XChat. At the same time, a phone number will not be required for registration.

XChat

XChat is built using the Rust programming language, Musk said. The messenger will have end-to-end “bitcoin-style encryption,” and will allow users to exchange disappearing messages, any type of file, and make audio and video calls.

We’re launching a brand new XChat with disappearing messages and the ability to send any file. Also audio and video calls. It’s built in Rust with Bitcoin-style encryption, a completely new architecture,” Musk wrote.

There aren’t many details about XChat. It is reported that XChat is currently available to users with a premium subscription.
