Insider details about the upcoming features of Apple’s AirPods have surfaced online. According to industry sources, Apple plans to enhance the control capabilities of its signature earbuds—introducing new functions such as iPhone camera control and sleep detection.
According to 9to5Mac, Apple is set to add a feature that allows users to adjust volume simply by tilting their heads. Another notable innovation is sleep detection: the AirPods will reportedly be able to recognize when the user has fallen asleep and automatically pause playback. Rumors suggest this feature will only work when paired with an Apple Watch.
Additionally, the new AirPods are expected to support camera control—using the touch-sensitive surface of the earbuds to trigger smartphone camera functions. Apple also plans to improve voice clarity by separating speech from background noise using machine learning algorithms.
These new features are anticipated to be officially unveiled at WWDC 2025.
