Media: AMD is also “ashamed” of its 8-gigabyte video card

Not long ago, industry publications shamed NVIDIA for holding back the 8-gigabyte version of the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti for reviewers. AMD promised not to do this at Computex 2025 — but, as journalists claim, ended up doing exactly the same as its main competitor.

Almost all AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT reviews that have already been published online are dedicated to the 16-gigabyte modification. The younger model with 8 GB of video memory is not mentioned by any major media outlet or blogger.

The YouTube channel Linus Tech Tips contacted AMD to get an 8GB sample for review and received an unexpected response. The company said that the cards are provided “depending on demand.” As a result, only a few of these models made it into regional publications with a relatively small audience.

In other words, the company did not formally refuse to provide the media with a cut-down version of the video card. But it did so in such a way as not to spoil sales in the first days after its retail release – this is usually the time when the peak of views of specialized reviews occurs.
