The Nintendo Switch 2 is one of the most commercially successful consoles of all time, with over 3.5 million sales in just a few days after its launch . In short, there is a lot of hype around the new product, and in such cases, crimes are almost never avoided.
Recently, unknown thieves got their hands on a shipment of Switch 2s that were being transported from Nintendo headquarters to a GameStop store in Texas. Somehow, the thieves managed to quietly steal about 3,000 units worth a total of $1.4 million — and the truck driver (who didn’t know what he was transporting) didn’t even notice the theft and arrived at his destination empty-handed as if nothing had happened. In total, the vehicle traveled 1,332 miles (2,143 kilometers).
It should be noted that such stories happen regularly. In 2020, for example, British criminals stole PlayStation 5 in a similar way, and in 2015, bandits stole an entire truck with copies of the Splatoon game and various accessories for the Wii U.
