The Framework Laptop 12 is positioned as the brand’s most compact and affordable laptop to date. To check whether it retains the repairability typical of the brand’s products, iFixit experts conducted a demonstration “autopsy” of it – and were pleasantly surprised by the results of the test.
The laptop, like its predecessor, allows you to easily change interface ports without using any tools. For example, the user can upgrade the device by equipping it with an HDMI port, Ethernet or a card reader. To disassemble the Laptop 12, it is enough to remove the keyboard and trackpad, which are attached with simple latches.
Most of the laptop’s internal components are marked with QR codes that link to a website with repair instructions. In just a few simple steps, the owner of the device can replace the battery, power button, speakers, RAM module, M.2 2230 drive, and motherboard by simply unscrewing a few screws.
Based on the results of the disassembly, socialists at iFixit rated the Framework Laptop 12 at 10 points out of 10, confirming its excellent repairability.
