Rebel Wolves recently held a gameplay presentation of The Blood of Dawnwalker, an upcoming ambitious RPG, the development of which is led by the key authors of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
In a twenty-minute gameplay video, the authors showed several key gameplay sequences of The Blood of Dawnwalker, which are divided into night and day. During the day, Cohen (that’s the name of the protagonist) must deal with tasks in human form, and at night, he grows claws and acquires vampire superpowers. The authors call their project a narrative sandbox: it will have several main storylines at once, and only the player is free to decide which one he wants to follow. At the same time, the passage is limited to a time period of 30 game days, and the time of day does not move in real time, but as the tasks are completed.
Thus, the task of visiting the Swartrow Cathedral in the demonstration was completed in two different ways: the presenter went there at different times of the day and saw different pictures. During the day, a baby was being baptized in the cathedral, and it was impossible to visit its distant corners without vampire skills. At night, evil spirits were conducting some kind of bloody ritual in the cathedral, and supernatural skills allowed the hero not to use the main passage – he climbed into the building from above, with vampire dashes through space. The authors assure that the development of new stages of the tasks will depend on the decisions made in the previous time of day.
The character’s appearance also affects the combat system: during the day, he will have to deal with enemies with a sword and dark magic, and at night – tear them apart with claws and vampire skills. Of course, in the form of a bloodsucker, you need to satisfy your brutal appetite, otherwise the level of hunger will reduce the character’s health. For fans of pacifist walkthroughs, there is an option not to kill your victims, or even feed on animal blood. The vampire and the human will have their own leveling trees.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is expected to be released in 2026, with no exact release date yet. It is known that the project will not receive an official translation into Russian.
