VanMoof Launches Cutting-Edge E-Bikes With McLaren Support

VanMoof, which emerged from bankruptcy in 2023, is back with new e-bikes, the S6 and S6 Open. The company says every element has been redesigned from the ground up in collaboration with McLaren Applied. The company calls them “the culmination of 11 years of innovation.”

Both models are equipped with a 250-watt motor in the front wheel and a four-level adaptive pedaling assistance system. A dedicated Boost button helps to quickly accelerate in difficult situations, and a torque of 68 Nm gives a good response even when riding uphill. The electronic stuffing is controlled via an updated Control Core – this is a kind of brain of the bike, ensuring stable operation and monitoring of the state via the app.

Power is provided by a non-removable 487 Wh Panasonic battery, providing a range of up to 150 km in economy mode or about 60 km at maximum load. The charge level can be monitored using the Halo light ring on the handlebars. The bikes are also equipped with a 3-speed automatic transmission, which adjusts to the riding style in real time.

The new VanMoofs are integrated with the Apple FindMy service and a mobile app, where step-by-step navigation and parameter settings are available. The security system includes a built-in alarm, an electronic lock, and a smartphone owner recognition function. In case of theft, a proprietary program for restoring or replacing the bike is available – the first year is free, and then by subscription (from 150 euros per year).

Both e-bikes come with a three-year manufacturer’s warranty and cost €3,298.
