Dell has announced its first laptop equipped with a powerful neural processing unit (NPU) – effectively a professional-grade graphics card equivalent for AI computations. The new laptop, aptly named Pro Max Plus, is claimed by the manufacturer to be “the world’s first mobile workstation with a discrete enterprise-class NPU.”
While the full specifications of the Dell Pro Max Plus are yet to be revealed, key details have emerged. The laptop will feature a Qualcomm AI 100 PC AI chip, boasting 32 cores and 64 GB of dedicated memory. According to Dell, this on-device processing power will be sufficient for working locally with large AI models, tasks that typically require a cloud connection to execute.
The Pro Max Plus is being positioned as a device tailored for artificial intelligence engineers and data processing specialists. The laptop is slated for release before the end of 2025, with its price and complete specifications still pending announcement. Dell also plans to release other models within the same Pro Max series in the future, offering varying hardware configurations.
