The landscape of console exclusives is shifting as Xbox Game Studios embraces a multi-platform strategy to reach a wider audience. Following the trend of bringing former Xbox exclusives to PlayStation, such as Forza Horizon and Hi-Fi Rush, the company has now announced the arrival of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II on PlayStation 5.
Announced by Xbox Game Studios and developer Ninja Theory, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II Enhanced will launch on PlayStation 5 this summer. This cinematic action drama, initially released in the spring of 2024 for Xbox Series S/X and PC, will receive enhancements for the PlayStation 5 Pro, along with other new features that will be detailed closer to the release. Interestingly, these new features will also be rolled out as a free update for the Xbox Series S/X and PC versions simultaneously. The game is now available to wishlist on the PlayStation Store.
Senua’s Saga was first revealed in 2019. Notably, towards the end of its development, Tameem Antoniades, the creative director and writer behind both Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice and DmC: Devil May Cry, departed from the studio. The upcoming PlayStation 5 release marks another significant step in Microsoft’s evolving approach to platform exclusivity.
