Until recently, many gamers held high hopes for Embracer Group. The Swedish holding company was aggressively acquiring studios and intellectual properties, leading some to dream of revivals for beloved classic games. However, following a significant failed deal, Embracer has shifted its strategy towards closing divisions and halting projects with potential. Despite this, the company still has upcoming releases in the pipeline.
Embracer recently published its financial report for the beginning of 2025. The corporation highlighted Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, whose performance contributed positively to the first quarter, with the company expressing optimism for its long-term success. To date, the title has already sold 3 million copies.
Looking ahead, the holding company plans to release a substantial 76 games within the next 12 months. This lineup includes new titles like Metal Eden, as well as re-releases and reimagined versions of older games, notably the Gothic 1 Remake. Some of these projects have yet to be officially announced.
Embracer Group has significant expectations for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, slated for release in early 2026. The report anticipates “lower margins due to partner economics,” referring to the royalties owed to Marvel, which will take a percentage of the game’s sales. The corporation has also moved another unannounced title into the next fiscal year, hoping it will achieve similar success to Kingdom Come 2.
Finally, the Swedish gaming group Coffee Stain will become an independent entity by the end of 2025. This independent group will comprise over 250 employees, encompassing the teams from Coffee Stain, Ghost Ship, Tuxedo Labs, and several studios previously under Amplifier Game Invest.
