Vivo, OPPO, Honor, and HUAWEI Smartphones Adopt Common Fast Charging Standard

Vivo, OPPO, Honor, and HUAWEI have agreed to use a single fast charging standard called UFCS and have updated it to version 2.0. This should make life much easier for users who aren’t tied to one electronics brand.

The original UFCS standard was developed in 2021. Specification 2.0, in turn, became unified for vivo, OPPO, Honor, and HUAWEI. In practice, this means that new smartphones from all these brands will support 40-watt charging even when using non-native power supplies and USB cables. In addition, all of them will be able to share charge with other gadgets, regardless of manufacturer and model.

Furthermore, all chargers with UFCS 2.0 support will be equipped with an active power regulation system. They will be able to automatically recognize the connected gadget and optimize the current parameters according to its specification. It is not yet known whether the new standard will work with devices from other companies, and whether it will spread beyond the Chinese market.
