A New Messiah of Sword and Magic. Alkahest Unveils Fresh Gameplay Trailer

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, a beloved title from the mid-2000s, while not spawning a direct franchise (though some see its evolution in the Dishonored series), is now seeing a spiritual successor emerge. The first gameplay trailer for this promising new title, Alkahest, has been revealed to the public.

Alkahest is being developed by Push On, a studio comprised of seasoned veterans of the gaming industry who express a weariness of sprawling, overstuffed open-world games. The newly released gameplay footage showcases combat encounters with goblins. However, the noticeably fluid and polished nature of the combat animations suggests that the trailer may still be staged for demonstration purposes. This echoes the criticism the developers faced regarding their equally staged announcement trailer, which subsequently required clarification from the studio.

Despite the initial skepticism surrounding the presentation, the developers at Push On maintain their vision of creating a believable and engaging open world filled with compelling locations to explore. Notably, Kingdom Come: Deliverance, known for its grounded realism, has been cited as a significant source of inspiration for Alkahest. Adding to the project’s momentum, Push On has announced a publishing partnership with HypeTrain Digital. However, a specific release date for Alkahest has not yet been announced, leaving eager fans anticipating further updates on this intriguing sword-and-magic action title.
