AI Browser Perplexity Comet Announced — Another Chrome Killer

Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas has announced the upcoming launch of its proprietary browser, Comet. It is positioned as a platform for AI search and will soon be available on Android devices.

During a recent Reddit Q&A, Srinivas noted that Comet for Android is “growing pretty well and quickly,” and users can “expect the browser this fall.” Comet will be coming to iOS later this year, and a desktop beta for Windows will be available to testers next week.

In addition to search, Comet will offer users other useful features, including AI-powered educational tools and gaming tools, the details of which are not yet specified. In addition, the company promised to integrate some features of the Perplexity Labs platform into the browser. It is assumed that with the help of plug-ins, the browser will turn into an “intelligent digital environment.”

At release, Comet will have to compete not only with traditional browsers like Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox but also with existing AI-based solutions like Arc Search.
