‘Below Average’ Screen: Blogger Criticizes Nintendo Switch 2 in Review [VIDEO]

Many bloggers have already published reviews of the Nintendo Switch 2, but all of them mainly focused on the performance of the new portable. The author of the YouTube channel GamingTech decided to approach it from a different angle and closely examined the console’s display. He ultimately called the test results disappointing.

According to the review , the Nintendo Switch 2 has a “below average” screen that fails to deliver acceptable picture quality when displaying HDR content. The IPS panel’s peak backlight brightness was 450 cd/m² in Cyberpunk 2077, while in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild it did not exceed 420 cd/m². In addition, the picture was spoiled by the inability of LCD panels to accurately convey black color.

In docking mode, things were better with HDR, but not in all games: for example, in the same Cyberpunk, the picture in this mode looked at the level of other platforms, and in Zelda it looked blurry due to a lack of contrast. According to the blogger, the problem with the console’s own screen will only be solved by releasing an OLED version, but developers will have to solve problems with HDR when connected to a TV with patches.
