The Kommersant publication, citing retailers’ data, reported a decline in laptop sales on the Russian market. Business representatives spoke about the extent of the decline in demand, named possible reasons for this phenomenon, and shared their forecasts for the current year.
According to retail chains, demand for laptops in the first quarter of 2025 fell by 4% in units and 12% in money compared to last year’s figures. The average price of a portable PC also fell – from 62 to 60 thousand rubles. In total, 882 thousand laptops were sold in Russia in the first three months of this year for a total of 53.3 billion rubles. The statistics were confirmed by Marvel Distribution. They also named several reasons for this phenomenon:
- Excess equipment in warehouses.
- Maintaining a high key rate.
- Traditional drop in demand for the beginning of the year.
The market leaders have also become known: the top three are ASUS, HUAWEI and Honor. Over the course of the year, experts predict an even more noticeable drop of an additional 10-15% due to the high key rate, which “restrains consumer activity.”
