Down to Earth: People Can Fly Halts Development of Two Games, Announces Restructuring

The gaming industry, with surprising (and sad) regularity, “delights” the public with news of another wave of layoffs. Less than a week after the death of Cliffhanger Games , People Can Fly spoke about its problems.

PCF

The studio known for Painkiller and Outriders announced the suspension of work on the Gemini and Bifrost projects. The first was created together with Square Enix; the freeze was due to the fact that the partner did not provide PCF with documents on the continuation of cooperation. The second title, which was intended for VR devices, was put on the back burner due to complicated communication with the publisher, as well as difficulties with financing.

As a result, People Can Fly will undergo a restructuring. In other words, some of the employees who worked on the above-mentioned games will be laid off.

This will not affect Gears of War: E-Day, the prequel to the Gears of War saga, which is being developed in partnership with The Coalition. Incidentally, the studio signed a contract with Sony in May.
