Nintendo is taking extreme precautions with the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, and this time, even journalists have been affected by strict measures aimed at preventing leaks.
According to the Video Game Chronicle (VGC) portal, Nintendo has not provided journalists and bloggers with early access to the Switch 2. As a result, no materials or reviews about the console or its games can be expected on launch day. The company explained this by stating that until the first-day patch is released, the new console lacks important functionalities.
A VGC employee noted that Nintendo’s approach is unusual. In past launches, media had at least tested the new hardware or spent significant time with it during press events before writing reviews. This time, however, Nintendo has made it harder for both journalists and consumers alike.
When the Switch 2 launches tomorrow, June 5, there will be no early reviews or detailed analyses of performance, battery life, or key features such as voice chat and backward compatibility with the original Switch. No early insights into standout games or warnings about poor ports will be available before users spend their money.
As a reminder, Mario Kart World will launch alongside the console, and early previews of the game have already been released by the media.
