Forza Horizon 5 Races to Huge Sales on PlayStation 5 — Microsoft’s Cross-Platform Move Pays Off

It looks like the days of console exclusives dominating the gaming world might be coming to an end. Microsoft has officially started bringing some of its biggest titles to PlayStation 5—and the results are already turning heads.

According to data from Alinea Analytics, Forza Horizon 5 is leading the charge. The popular open-world racing game sold over 1.4 million copies on PS5 within just eight days of its release. That’s a massive number for a game that originally launched as an Xbox exclusive.

Microsoft’s pirate adventure Sea of Thieves also saw strong numbers, with more than 650,000 copies sold on Sony’s console. However, not every title made waves. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle struggled to gain traction, selling just 132,900 copies—a figure analysts have called disappointing.

Industry experts say this success could signal a big future for Microsoft’s multiplatform strategy. With Forza Horizon 5 doing so well on PlayStation, there’s growing excitement about the next entry in the series, which is expected to launch on all major platforms at once.

Meanwhile, Sony seems content sticking to its current strategy. The company continues to keep its top-tier exclusives—like Spider-Man and God of War—locked to PlayStation, especially as Xbox Series console sales continue to lag behind.

But one thing is clear: Microsoft’s decision to go cross-platform is already paying off, and PlayStation fans are here for it.
