Garmin has officially unveiled two new smartwatches designed specifically for running and triathlon training — the Forerunner 570 and Forerunner 970. Both models offer bright AMOLED displays, long battery life, and advanced training features, making them ideal for endurance athletes.
Forerunner 970: High-End Features in a Rugged Design
The Garmin Forerunner 970 features a 47mm case, a 1.4-inch round AMOLED display, sapphire glass, and a titanium bezel for added durability. It also includes a built-in flashlight, which is useful for early morning or nighttime workouts.
One of the key highlights is Garmin’s Triathlon Coach software, which helps users track their training and generate personalized workout plans aimed at improving performance in both running and triathlon disciplines.
The watch collects and stores health metrics such as heart rate, blood oxygen level (SpO2), and ECG data, all of which can be viewed in the Garmin Connect app. Additional features include GPS tracking, step cadence monitoring, and various performance metrics. The battery is rated to last up to 15 days on a full charge.
Forerunner 570: A Lighter Alternative
The Forerunner 570 comes in 42mm and 47mm case options and shares many training-focused features with its more premium counterpart. However, it lacks some of the hardware upgrades, including the titanium bezel, sapphire glass, flashlight, ECG sensor, and step rate tracking.
Its battery life is slightly shorter, offering up to 11 days per charge — still competitive for most users.
Pricing and Availability
Both smartwatches will be available in the United States starting May 21:
-
Forerunner 570: $550
-
Forerunner 970: $750
With these new additions, Garmin continues to provide powerful tools for athletes looking to optimize their training and performance, whether on the track or in triathlon competitions.
