HUAWEI has officially unveiled its new flagship, the Pura 80 Ultra, in China. The device’s main focus is on photo and video shooting: the model has a unique dual-lens TV camera, which sets it apart from other premium smartphones.
The smartphone’s main camera module includes a 50-megapixel “inch” sensor of its own design with a variable aperture (f / 1.6 – f / 4.0) and optical stabilization. The TV camera also received a 50 MP sensor and uses matrix shift to compensate for shaking. It can switch between 3.7- and 9.4-fold optical zoom (equivalent focal length – 83 mm and 212 mm, respectively) and supports digital zoom up to 100x.
The smartphone also features a 40-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module and a multispectral sensor for accurate color reproduction. It supports 4K video recording and super slow-motion shooting in 1080p at 960 fps.
The smartphone is equipped with a 6.8-inch OLED display (LTPO) with a resolution of 2848 x 1276 pixels and an adaptive refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz. Support for high-frequency PWM dimming of 1440 Hz is also declared to reduce eye strain. The smartphone runs HarmonyOS 5.1 and communicates with a PC via a high-speed USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C connector. The dimensions of the device are 163 x 76.1 x 8.3 mm and weighs about 233.5 g.
As in other current HUAWEI models, the manufacturer does not indicate the exact processor model. But the memory configuration is known: 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB or 1 TB drive. Autonomy is provided by a 5700 mAh battery with fast charging support: 100 W via cable and 80 W via wireless technology. The smartphone body is protected from water and dust according to the IP69 standard.
The price of the 512GB version in China is about $1,390 at the exchange rate on the day the news was published, and the 1TB configuration is about $1,530. There is no information about the global release yet.
