HUAWEI Unveils MateBook Fold Laptop with Large Flexible Screen and High Price

At a major presentation in China, HUAWEI unveiled its first PC running its proprietary HarmonyOS operating system, the MateBook Fold. This device is a hybrid tablet and laptop featuring a large 18-inch foldable screen.

The HUAWEI MateBook Fold is equipped with an 18-inch flexible OLED display with a resolution of 3296×2472 pixels, supporting LTPO technology and offering a peak brightness of up to 1600 nits. The company claims this is the world’s largest dual-layer OLED panel. The device also incorporates the largest teardrop hinge used in branded laptops to connect the two halves of the case. This hinge allows the screen tilt to be adjusted and held at various angles. While the manufacturer did not specify the processor, it is widely expected to use a proprietary Kirin series ARM chip.
