According to insider Digital Chat Station, one or more models in the iPhone 19 series will adopt a new type of front-facing camera that will be invisible until activated. Concurrently, the Face ID scanner will be moved under the display, potentially allowing Apple smartphones to eliminate the Dynamic Island cutout. This transition is expected to occur in two phases.
In the initial phase, the source suggests that Apple will only conceal the Face ID components beneath the display. This technology is likely to debut in the iPhone 18 Pro smartphones. This is partly supported by a recent Apple patent, where the manufacturer reportedly resolved the issue of transmitting infrared light through the display. It is anticipated that these smartphones could be available as early as 2026.
Subsequently, Apple will presumably begin moving the front-facing camera sensor under the screen. In his post on this topic, the insider cites sources within the supply chain. He suggests that Apple will introduce its first branded smartphone with a notch-free display in 2027. As is customary, the company itself has not commented on this speculation.
