Microsoft Updates Guide to Fixing BSOD in Windows 10 and 11

Microsoft has released an updated and more detailed guide on how to fix the “blue screen of death” (BSOD) in Windows 10 and 11. Compared to the previous version, the new guide offers significantly more information.

The updated guide is now divided into two sections. The first part includes basic troubleshooting steps:

Microsoft

  • Remove any newly added hardware.

  • Start your PC in Safe Mode.

  • Check Device Manager for any devices marked with an exclamation point. Right-click the device and select Update Driver. If updating doesn’t help, try disabling or uninstalling the problematic device.

  • Make sure there is enough free space on your hard drive for Windows to work properly.

  • Install the latest updates through Windows Update.

The second part contains more advanced solutions, intended for experienced users. These include using memory diagnostic tools and analyzing entries in the Event Log.
