Film studios have been acquiring rights to video games since the 1990s, but it wasn’t until the late 2010s that Hollywood began actively producing adaptations of famous hits. Various console titles, ranging from Twisted Metal to Onimusha, have been brought to screens. Now, industry giants have finally set their sights on one of the biggest mobile gaming franchises.

Last night, Netflix announced an upcoming animated series based on Clash of Clans. Currently, information about the project is scarce: it is known to be in the pre-production stage, with Fletcher Mules (the creator of several trailers for the game) serving as showrunner, and Canadian ICON Creative Studio handling the animation. The public anticipates that more details will be revealed during Netflix Geeked Week.
Clash of Clans, the popular free-to-play mobile strategy game, was initially released in 2012 on iOS. Supercell’s hit game quickly captivated players, generating five billion dollars for its creators and inspiring numerous other developers to create similar titles – as well as iconic imagery featuring screaming characters.
