Microsoft has released an optional but very useful patch KB5058499 for Windows 11 24H2. According to the software maker, it solves the well-known problem of crashes and freezes in games, and also makes the OS more stable.
The main innovation of KB5058499 was the correction of incorrect operation of GeForce video cards, due to which games froze or crashed to the desktop. Previously, some users blamed NVIDIA for the problem, but the driver update did not solve the problem. At the same time, the patch eliminated the cause of the memory leak, which led to input lag.
According to industry media, the update improved the performance of many games on the Unreal Engine 5 (Palworld, The Finals, Dead by Daylight, and Fortnite). In addition, a bug was fixed that caused Windows 11 to change the screen resolution after putting the PC into sleep mode and back.
Update KB5058499 can now be downloaded manually from the Update Center.
