Panasonic Stops Including Old-Fashioned Video Port in Laptops

Japanese companies are often known for sticking with older technology long after other companies have moved on. One example of this was the D-Sub (also known as VGA) port for connecting to older monitors. But it looks like this is finally changing. Panasonic recently announced they will stop using this outdated connection.

Panasonic has revealed their new Let’s Note laptops, and for the first time ever, these laptops will not have a VGA port. While most display technology has moved to digital connections like HDMI, Panasonic had continued to include the older analog VGA port in their products until now.

Panasonic’s decision to remove the VGA port is likely because they want to create a more modern-looking laptop. Switching to HDMI and Thunderbolt 4 ports not only makes the laptop work better with today’s screens but also allows them to make the laptop much thinner, which is important for modern devices.

This move by Panasonic follows other recent shifts away from older technology in Japan. Last year, Japan started to get rid of floppy disks, and this year, they announced they would stop making large amounts of blank Blu-Ray discs.
