The biggest password leak in history has happened. Almost everyone is at risk

Cybersecurity researchers have confirmed the largest data leak in history — 16 billion accounts with passwords have become publicly available. This data includes accounts from Apple, Google, Facebook, Telegram, GitHub, VPN services and even government portals. According to Cybernews, these are fresh, previously unpublished databases that are already being used by hackers.

The leak covers dozens of data arrays — from millions to more than 3.5 billion records each. According to experts, the information in these databases is organized in the most convenient way for attackers: website address, login, and password. This makes them an ideal tool for phishing, account takeover, and other types of attacks. Everyone is at risk — from ordinary users to companies and developers.

Experts strongly recommend changing passwords to all key services immediately, especially those that do not use two-factor authentication. They advise using unique and secure combinations and storing them in password managers, or better yet, switching to passkeys wherever possible.
