The first “beta” of the AI browser Dia has been released. What can the application do?

After the end of support for Arc, The Browser Company focused on working on the Dia browser , based on AI algorithms. The first public build of the application appeared on the Mac platform: on this occasion, the developers told what the new product can do.

Dia is positioned as a smart assistant that you can ask questions to: for example, it can search for additional information about facts from an article open on the site. When composing an answer, in addition to the text in the tab, the user’s habits and other factors are taken into account.

Another feature of the browser is a set of “skills” based on AI models for performing various tasks. For example, the online shopping skill takes into account the history of product searches on Amazon for more efficient work, and the communication module responds to interlocutors in the corporate messenger Slack at the user’s command. Each skill has its own memory and interface. According to the developers, the data used from the PC is encrypted, and if it is sent to the server for processing, it “stays there for several milliseconds.”

The Mac beta does not yet have the ability to organize tabs and workspaces. The main goal of the test version is to show that a browser can be more than just software, but a partner in work. The release dates for Dia for Windows have not yet been announced.
