MakCenter, the exclusive distributor of ONYX International Inc. e-readers, has introduced the affordable ONYX BUKS Vasco Da Gama 5 model to the Russian market. The new device runs on Android, features a touchscreen, and includes an AI assistant.
The ONYX BUKS Vasco Da Gama 5 is equipped with a 6-inch E-Ink Carta (Carta 1200) touchscreen with MOON Light 2 backlighting and adjustable color temperature. It offers a resolution of 1024×758 pixels, and the SNOW Field feature helps reduce screen artifacts during page refreshes.

Under the hood, the device includes an 8-core processor, 2 GB of RAM, and 32 GB of internal storage. It runs on Android 11, allowing users to install apps via Google Play and RuStore. The device comes preloaded with the Yandex Books app and an audio player, enabling users to enjoy both music and audiobooks.
A Text-to-Speech feature allows the e-reader to read aloud text files, and built-in dictionaries support in-text translation of foreign words. When connected to the internet, users can also access an online translator for longer text passages.
Additional features include support for microSD cards, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and an AI assistant. The assistant can describe books by title, write stories based on prompts, create to-do lists, and answer a wide range of questions. A Children’s Mode is also available, which lets parents restrict access to certain apps and books and set daily reading time limits.
The ONYX BUKS Vasco Da Gama 5, available in a white casing, is now on sale in Russia at a price of 17,990 rubles.
