Team Ninja never slows down — the studio is already hard at work on new projects. And as revealed last night, they’re focused on more than just the next Ninja Gaiden title.
Nioh 3 was officially announced during Sony’s latest State of Play showcase. The third installment in the hit action RPG series will follow the legendary military leader Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate.
This time around, players will be able to switch between two combat stances: samurai and ninja. The samurai stance offers a slower, more deliberate style focused on parrying enemy attacks. The ninja stance, on the other hand, is designed for players who prefer fast, agile strikes and quick evasions. You’ll be able to switch between styles freely, offering a dynamic combat experience.
The developers have also promised expansive open-world environments, a first for the series, allowing players to explore larger, more immersive landscapes.
Nioh 3 is set to release on PC and PlayStation 5 in 2026. To mark the announcement, Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo dropped a playable demo, giving fans an early taste of what’s to come.
