The Zone Revisited: Gamer Compares Original STALKER Trilogy with New Remaster

Many years ago, the STALKER series was celebrated as one of the most significant PC exclusives, but times have certainly changed. In 2024, the original trilogy—comprising STALKER: Shadow of Chornobyl, STALKER: Clear Sky, and STALKER: Call of Pripyat—was ported to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. Now, these acclaimed shooters have received a visual overhaul coinciding with their release on newer platforms.

YouTube blogger ElAnalistaDeBits has published a comparison of the graphics between the old and new versions of STALKER. The creators of the updated port have visibly improved global lighting and special effects, increased the drawing distance, and adjusted the color correction in certain locations. As a result, in some scenes, the newly titled “Enhanced Trilogy” presents a very distinct and unusual look.

STALKER: Legends of the Zone — Enhanced Edition was released today, May 20. This updated trilogy is available on PC (via Steam, GOG, and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Owners of the original games will receive these new editions for free.
