Analytical firm Counterpoint Research has released its updated ranking of the best-selling individual smartphone models based on sales figures from the first quarter of 2025. The list showcases a mix of premium and budget-friendly devices, with one brand maintaining its dominant position from the previous year.
According to Counterpoint Research’s data, the iPhone 16 emerged as the top-selling smartphone model globally by the end of March 2025. Apple continued its strong performance, securing the next three positions in the ranking as well. The iPhone 16 Pro Max claimed the second spot, followed by the iPhone 16 Pro in third place, and the previous generation iPhone 15 in fourth.
Samsung also demonstrated significant market presence, capturing four spots within the top 10. Their best-selling models in the first quarter were the Galaxy A16 5G, Galaxy A06, the flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra, and the popular Galaxy A55 5G.
Xiaomi’s Redmi brand managed to secure one position in the top 10 with the Redmi 14C 4G, placing eighth on the list. Notably, the Redmi 14C 4G experienced a substantial 43% year-over-year increase in sales, driven by strong demand in regions such as the Middle East and Africa, as well as Latin America.
Rounding out the top ten is Apple’s iPhone 16 Plus, indicating continued consumer interest in the larger screen variant of their latest base model.
