Updated 2026 Hummer EV Gains ‘Crab Walk’ Mode and Bidirectional Charging

The updated 2026 Hummer EV retains its massive proportions and iconic design but has become noticeably more agile, smarter, and slightly quicker. Among the key upgrades is a new King Crab mode, which significantly enhances off-road maneuverability. The electric vehicle can also now share its battery charge with other EVs and various devices.

More Power, More Control

The 2026 Hummer EV is available in two body styles: a pickup truck with an open bed and a traditional SUV. A new Carbon Fiber Edition is being introduced, featuring an exclusive matte paint finish, 22-inch wheels, carbon fiber accents, a black tailgate, and improved performance. According to GMC, this is the fastest Hummer ever built, capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (0–62 mph) in just 2.8 seconds. This speed boost is thanks to updated hardware and optimized firmware.

A standout new feature is King Crab mode, where the rear wheels rotate faster than the front ones. This provides greater agility on tight, uneven terrain. Notably, this mode will also be made available to owners of 2022 to 2025 Hummer EVs via an over-the-air firmware update.

Smarter Driving and Charging

The proprietary Super Cruise system has also been enhanced. It can now automatically change lanes based on the vehicle’s route and traffic conditions. The suspension has been re-tuned to improve ride comfort, especially on longer journeys.

The 2026 model also introduces bidirectional charging, enabling the Hummer EV to serve as a mobile power station for other EVs, home appliances, or outdoor equipment.

Availability and Pricing

Production of the 2026 Hummer EV is scheduled to begin later this year. While pricing has not yet been announced, the cost is expected to rise from the $99,000 base price of the 2025 model, reflecting the new features and performance improvements.
