Over the last decade, eSports has gone far beyond the niche entertainment it once was: now in many countries it is considered a full-fledged sport. The All-Russian Center for the Study of Public Opinion decided to measure the degree of attitude of Russians towards this phenomenon.
The survey was conducted among 1,601 respondents over 18 years old. It turned out that 50% of Russians are not ready to recognize eSports as a full-fledged sport, and 40% are very much so. Characteristically, eSports are more often recognized by young people with 58% approval among 18-24 year olds, while the mature generation of 45-59 year olds is not.
Among the sample, only 25% of respondents watched any eSports competitions themselves, and 70% did not even think about it. But at the same time, 70% of respondents support the development of eSports in Russia.
