Xiaomi Launches Mijia M40S Robot Vacuum with Retractable Lidar and Smart Docking Station

Xiaomi has just introduced a new addition to its smart home lineup—the Mijia M40S robot vacuum cleaner. It comes in two versions: one with a standard docking station that includes a water tank, and a more advanced version that can connect directly to your home’s water supply and drainage system.

The M40S packs a punch with up to 23,000 Pa of suction power and features a retractable lidar navigation system. If it needs to clean under low furniture, the lidar sensor can tuck itself into the body, reducing the vacuum’s height to just 8.8 cm—handy for those hard-to-reach spots. It also includes a side brush to help sweep up dirt along walls and in corners.

Xiaomi says that if you’re using the basic docking station, you’ll only need to do maintenance about once every 75 days. But the real game-changer is the upgraded dock: it automatically refills the vacuum’s clean water tank, washes and dries the mop with hot air, and sends dirty water straight to the sewer—no manual emptying required.

In China, the standard version is priced at around $414, while the advanced version will set you back about $511.
